Ok, it's time for some real talk.
Although it’s hard to admit, I’m naturally an anxious, nervous wreck most of the time (those closest to me would be able to attest to this!). I get easily overwhelmed and I worry about so many different scenarios—most of which actually don't end up happening, but hey, it's always better to be prepared than to be thrown completely off-guard.
To be honest, this year has not started off the way I exactly planned. So many things have been happening in my personal life and as a result, my anxiety levels have never been as high. Some days, all the family responsibilities and expectations as a mother get me so winded already that any other tasks outside of these categories end up being pushed aside…yet again.
But as clichéd as it sounds, the one thing that has helped me over and over again is by practicing mindfulness everyday. And because it’s not easy to meditate when I’m on the go, finding a mindful moment of calm through scent has always worked wonders for me.

Scent gently encourages me to be in the moment instead of getting caught up with every thought that flies through my head. If anything, it’s also an excuse for me to take some deep breaths and remind myself that everything will be alright.
And yes, you guessed it: The Aruem was born out of my own need for a calming perfume. Because when I’m calmer, I’m able to find perspective and the strength to go on with my day.

So if you’re like me, the next time you feel overwhelmed, find a scent you love (a safe, natural and non-toxic one, ideally!) and breathe it in for a few long, slow breaths. Focus on the present moment and continue with your day - one task at a time. I hope this helps you as much as it helps me.
